IMAGINE: No distractions...

It's easy if you try.
Just change some simple actions.
Read on and you'll see why...

1. Take those head phones out of your ears.

Now, don't get me wrong, I absolutely LOVE music.  I could spend ALL day listening to and discovering new music, new sounds, new inspiration.  I have before... more than once.  However, is it really necessary to go everywhere with plastic plugged into your ears?  When you do this you zone out everything around you and pull yourself into a little shell like a turtle.  Humans are social creatures...We're not meant to live as turtles.  There is no way you can go around like this and truly be a "Peaceful Warrior" or "An Explorer of the World", two things I am striving to become... two things that require being in the moment, which is near impossible to do when you have plastic in your ears.

2. Refrain from casual texting when in a group.

I'm currently working at the mall and more often than not when I'm closing I find it so quiet you could hear a pin drop.  No one is talking to each other.  When I look around I find every one texting as they recover the store, fold clothes, etc.  Again, don't get me wrong, I LOVE the invention of texting and there are plenty of exceptions to this statement.  But basically what I'm getting at is... why do we distract ourselves with people who are in another building, town, state, etc., when there are so many interesting people to talk to and meet around us?  When we do this more likely than not we find ourselves either living in the past, talking to our text buddy about some past event, or in the future, talking about some future event.  We make it so much harder on ourselves to live in the moment, to live for now...and that's all we really have: NOW.

3. Clear your mind.

This last statement is simple yet the hardest of the three and is an ongoing battle.  It has a tendency of being complicated.  But through this step you can find inner peace, optimism, happiness, and true bliss in your life.
